Gomez announced at Disney Upfront on Tuesday (May 14) that the upcoming series will be called Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, and also shared the first-look images and the series logo. In the snaps, the cast is seen smiling on set. Gomez and Henrie, who played magical siblings Alex and Justin Russo on the original Wizards, will reprise their roles and serve as executive producers on the reboot. The series lead, Billie, will be portrayed as Janice LeAnn Brown.
According to the series description, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, follows “an adult Justin Russo, who has chosen to lead a normal, mortal life with his family, Giada, Roman and Milo. It’s Tuesday, May 14th, and an obituary for Eminem’s Slim Shady appeared in a Detroit newspaper ahead of the release of his upcoming album. ZICO teases in an interview with Billboard that he’s heard some of Jennie’s solo tracks and that they’re all really good. Yves from LOONA returns to music for the soundtrack of K-Drama, “Missing Crown Prince.” NewJeans performance director takes to IG stories to express her frustration about ILLIT copying creative elements from NewJeans’. Tyla takes us Behind The Photo and shares some of her favorite moments with her best friend. We sat down with Jimmy Fallon to talk about some of his favorite memories of Billboard Chart Toppers on his show. Rapsody shares why ‘Please Don’t Cry’ is her most vulnerable album, her collaborations with Lil Wayne and more!
Tetris Kelly:
The real Slim Shady kicks the bucket. Tyla takes us behind the photo. We learn more about Jennie’s solo tracks. All of LOONA’s members return to music and the NewJeans, ILLIT drama heats up. Jimmy Fallon talks about some of his biggest musical guests and Rapsody stops by to talk new music. Let’s jump right into it, here at Billboard News. Slim Shady is dead, but Eminem lives on. We’re talking about the obituary and his new venture. It seems Eminem may be taking his upcoming album, titled ‘The Death Of Slim Shady,’ literally. The Detroit Free Press ran a fake Slim Shady obituary on Monday and it’s a hilarious read. It states “Slim Shady Made Lasting Impressions. Fans ‘Will Never Forget’ Controversial Rapper.” It continues, “His complex and tortured existence has come to a close, and the legacy he leaves behind is no closer to resolution than the manner in which this character departed this world. May he truly find the peace in an afterlife that he could not find on Earth.” What? The ad obituary appears to be in support of Em’s upcoming 12th studio LP, news that was first broken by his frequent collaborator Dr. Dre on Jimmy Kimmel in March. And there’s music news in general and then the whole world of Kpop. There’s so much going on, here’s Three Things You Need To Know in Kpop. Jennie earned her second No.1 on the World Digital Song Sales Chart with “SPOT!”

Blue Note Entertainment Group and Black Radio Productions have unveiled the lineup for their newly announced Napa Valley event, Blue Note Jazz Festival Presents: The Black Radio Experience, hosted by Sway Calloway, Aug 30 to Sept 1.
Inspired by the event’s Artist in Residence — Grammy-winning pianist, artist, producer and jazz great Robert Glasper — The Black Radio Experience “is an immersive journey into the soul of music, transcending boundaries and celebrating the rich tapestry of Black culture,” a press release announcing its launch explains.
“Every year our festival in Napa brings a unique vibe, and this year we are bringing you the Black Radio Experience during Labor Day weekend with a dope list of artists for an exclusive hang,” Glasper said in a statement.
Unlike new festival properties that have sprung up recent years like Friends in Lovers festival in Las Vegas and Lionel Richie and Diana Ross’s inaugural Fool In Love Festival in Los Angeles – which feature more than 100 artists spread out over a huge festival ground — The Black Radio Experience is a smaller, intimate experience snuggled in to the The Meritage Resort & Spa in Napa. Headliners include John Legend, Jill Scott and André 3000, and performances by Andra Day, Common, Nile Rodgers, Ledisi and more.
“This year’s event promises an even more boutique, intimate, and exclusive vibe than ever before, presenting an unparalleled caliber of iconic artists,” said Alex Kurland, director of programming of Blue Note. “Robert Glasper’s vision and inspiration shape the talent and tone of the entire experience,” stated Kurland.
The inaugural festival took place on June 1, 2011, to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Blue Note Jazz Club in New York City. In 2022, a Napa Valley Blue Note Jazz Festival was launched at Charles Krug Winery in St. Helena.
The next Black Radio Experience event will feature three full days performances across two stages and a wine cave venue with music icons against the backdrop of Napa Valley. The event will include Chef Darryl Bell’s ‘In the Vineyard’ Stateline Road Smokehouse, where he combines his Kansas City roots with Michelin training and access to Napa Valley’s newest premier steakhouse, Ember Steak, for all three days of the event and with more exclusive food experiences to come.
Hotel packages run from $2,250 per person to $3,400 per person, with three-day GA passes starting at $499 going on sale Thursday, May 16, 2024. Visit the website here for more information.

More murders in the building are are around the corner. Hulu’s popular series, Only Murders in the Building, will return for season four on August 27.
In the upcoming season, Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short) and Mabel (Selena Gomez) find themselves dealing with the aftermath of the shocking events surrounding Charles’ stunt double and friend Sazz Pataki at the end of season three. “Questioning whether Sazz or Charles was the intended victim, our trio’s investigation leads them all the way to Los Angeles where a Hollywood studio is readying a film about the Only Murders podcast,” the description of season four reads. “As our amateur sleuths race back to New York, they embark on an even more epic journey — traversing their building’s courtyard to delve into the twisted lives of the Arconia’s West Tower residents.”
According to Variety, Only Murders is Hulu’s most-watched original comedy series to date, with the third season putting up the most-watched premiere day of any Hulu scripted original so far this year. Earlier this year, at the 2024 Primetime Emmy Awards, Only Murders had been in the running for best comedy series, which ended up going to FX’s The Bear, and Short had been nominated for best actor in a comedy series, but Jeremy Allen White took the prize.
Before the premiere date, you can catch up on all three seasons of Only Murders in the Building on Hulu. Hulu starts at $7.99 per month, or $79.99 per year for the ad-supported plan, while you can go without ads for $17.99 per month.

With reggaetón pop sensation Rauw Alejandro and corridos hitmaker Peso Pluma taking center stage at Governors Ball in New York, Sueños in Chicago and Baja Beach Fest in Mexico — the latter two festivals placing substantial bets on these genres — it’s clear that Latin music’s influence continues to expand rapidly.
We also see more eclectic lineups that combine Latin and Anglo headliners such as Primavera Sounds in Spain with main acts Lana Del Rey, Pulp, SZA, Mitski, and more are slated to perform; but also Venezuelan electronic producer Arca, Mexican-American crooner Omar Apollo, Argentine rapper Milo J, reggaetón pioneer DJ Playero, indie rockers Él Mató a Un Policía Motorizado, and Spanish trap star La Zowi.
Even in places historically less associated with Latin music — but not as much as one might think — such as in Italy with Milano Latin Festival who will host an over two-month-long music series starring Farruko, Christian Nodal, Maria Becerra, Juan Luis Guerra, Grupo Niche, Pimpinela, Olga Tañón and more.
While this may not be an exhaustive list, it serves as a comprehensive guide to some of the genre’s most significant events. Whether you’re a die-hard reggaetón fan, a salsa aficionado, or a lover of all things Latin, see our guide to the must-attend festivals across the globe, arranged in sequential order.

The biggest story in hip-hop is the main attraction on Billboard’s Hot Rap Songs chart, where the top six songs on the list dated May 18 all stem from the highly publicized feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar.
Lamar wins the battle – at least from a chart perspective – as his “Not Like Us” debuts at No. 1 on the multi-metric Hot Rap Songs chart, which combines streaming, radio airplay and sales data for its ranks. The Mustard-produced cut launches with 70.9 million official U.S. streams in the tracking week of May 3 – 9, according to Luminate, and nabs Lamar a record from his rival. The song’s streaming sum becomes the highest one-week count for a hip-hop title (defined as songs that have appeared or are eligible for Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart), since YouTube song user-generated content was removed from chart calculations in 2020, taking the honor from Drake’s “Way 2 Sexy,” featuring Future and Young Thug, which racked up 67.3 million streams in its debut week.
Beyond its massive streaming mark, “Not Like Us” also registered 5 million radio audience impressions and sold 15,000 downloads in the same tracking period.
As previously detailed, Drake and Lamar’s feud origin dates back at least a decade, though the latest stage kicked off with the March release of “Like That,” Lamar’s collaboration with Future and Metro Boomin, in which the Pulitzer Prize winner responded to perceived disses from Drake and J. Cole with attacks of his own. The sparring between Drake and Lamar reached its pinnacle at the top of May, with the pair releasing six songs between them in the span of April 30 – May 5.
Back on Hot Rap Songs, Lamar also captures the No. 2 slot with “Euphoria,” which holds at the runner-up rank for a second consecutive week, largely through 49 million official U.S. streams. “Like That,” a former six-week champ slides from the penthouse to No. 3 as Lamar’s more recent cuts ride streaming gains to the top two spots.
On Drake’s side, the superstar’s “Family Matters,” debuts at No. 4, spurred by 38 million streams, while his first entry into the battle, “Push Ups,” is pushed 4-6 in its third week on the list. Between the two, Lamar’s “Meet the Grahams” starts at No. 5.
Although the battle may have ended – neither side has issued a new track since May 5 – several of the tracks could linger for weeks to become. “Not Like Us” and “Euphoria” have each been officially promoted by his label to the mainstream R&B/hip-hop and rhythmic formats, with the former debuting at No. 35 on both the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay and Rhythmic Airplay charts. Given their proven streaming popularity with consumers, the hits could continue to generate significant play in the weeks ahead.
